PDIP Wins in Washington DC

Washington DC (Antara) - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) won the legislative election here by grabbing 169 votes, while the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) gained the second place with 65 votes, the Indonesian embassy revealed.
The real vote count of the election result, which was open for public, was witnessed by representatives of the participating political parties and the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Budi Bowoleksono, here on Wednesday.
According to Chairman of the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in Washington DC, Andang Purnama, 390 of 1,974 registered voters cast their votes but there were only 381 eligible votes.
The third place was grabbed by the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party with 52 votes, while the fourth belonged to the National Mandate Party with 32 votes, followed by the Democrat Party (18), Golkar Party (15), and the United Development Party (9).
The People's Conscience Party (Hanura) gained eight votes, followed by the Nation's Awakening Party (PKB) with five votes, the National Democrat Party (5), the Crescent and Star Party (2) and the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (1), he pointed out.
PDIP did not only win the parliamentary election in Washington DC but the party also gained the first place in the result of quick vote count by two pollsters, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Cyrus Network with 18.6 percent. (*)
