State-owned social security provider Health and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) official expressed optimism of increasing satisfaction rate among insurance members in 2021 on account of recent strategies and innovations adopted by the agency.

"We always record an increasing satisfaction rate. This is interesting since despite complaints from several members of the public, a survey conducted by an independent agency revealed public satisfaction in 2020 had reached 81.50 percent. The survey for 2021 is currently in progress," head of BPJS Kesehatan Ali Ghufron Mukti stated in a briefing on human development and culture titled "Realizing Advanced Indonesia Top Human Resources" in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The BPJS Kesehatan head reiterated the agency's resolve to conceive new strategies and service innovations, including by continuing to adopt digital technology in health care services.

Digital technology will allow patients to engage in an online consultation with doctors or health experts, and the doctors too could monitor BPJS Kesehatan members with chronic disease and examine likely complications to COVID-19 positive patients, Mukti explained.

Adoption of digital technology will also help members fulfil their premium administration obligations, such as making a doctor's appointment before arrival at hospitals and managing the benefit claim status applied in the online application, he remarked.

Mukti also affirmed that BPJS Kesehatan's financial status remains healthy, as the agency has sufficient funds and assets to pay members' claims for several months ahead.

By ensuring a healthy financial status, BPJS Kesehatan has fulfilled conditions provided by Government Regulation No. 84 of 2015 on Social Security Agency's asset management, he noted.

The government regulation directs social security agencies to secure necessary assets and funds to fulfil payment claims for at least 1.5 months until the next six months, he added.

"As of November 30, 2021, our net assets can fulfil claim payment for at least four months," the BPJS Kesehatan head stated. (*)
