Jakarta (Antara) - The inauguration of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla (JK), the new President and Vice-President of Indonesia, received broad attention from the Malaysian mass media, according to the Indonesian Embassy's press statement.
The Indonesian vice ambassador Hermono in a press statement said that he had met the Malaysian mass media to inform about the inauguration of Jokowi-JK.
Jokowi was inaugurated as Indonesia's seventh president and M. Jusuf Kalla as his deputy at the plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) chaired by Speaker Zulkifli Hasan here on Monday morning.
The new president and vice-president took the oaths of office in the presence of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indonesia's sixth president, two former presidents: B.J. Habibie and Megawati Sukarnoputri, and several other dignitaries.
Hermono further said that the presence of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Abdul Razak during the Jokowi-JK inauguration has hinted a positive signal for the strengthening of Indonesia-Malaysia relations.
According to him, the Malaysian prime minister even got priority to have a courtesy call with President Jokowi. (*)
