Jakarta - National Police chief General Timur Pradopo has said he is ready to receive an investigative report from the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) and incorporate it with the police report on the case allegedly involving Novel Baswedan. "It is very transparent. The police will conduct the investigations, while the National Police Commission will supervise the performance of the police. Then, both the reports will be combined," Pradopo said after presenting the medal of Rupatama at the police headquarters on Wednesday night (October 17). "The investigative team of the Kompolnas, led by Syafriadi Cut Ali, in Bengkulu is probing into Baswedan's case. We are looking into the files of police officers allegedly involved in the case," he added. One of the objectives of the investigation conducted by Kompolnas is to evaluate the professionalism of the Bengkulu Regional Police personnel dealing with the case. Pradopo said he was ready to take action against police officers found guilty of not carrying out their duties professionally. "There is a process to enforce the discipline and ethics, but it will be implemented only if they are proved guilty," he explained. The Kompolnas is investigating whether Novel was actually responsible for the shooting incident in Bengkulu in 2004, in which his subordinates killed a suspect. (*)
