Surabaya, E Java, Jan 26 (Antara) - State-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III is teaming up with two private companies to carry out its port expansion program.
President Director of Pelindo III, IGN Askhara Danadiputra said the cooperation is confirmed with the signing of "Memorandum of Collaboration" (MoC) here on Friday.
"The cooperation with the private companies is boost the productivity of the company`s ports," Danadiputra said.
He said there are two private companies - PT Optima Sinergi Comvestama and PT Gresik Jasatama cooperate with Pelindo III to build non container port facilities.
PT Optima Sinergi Comvestama will serve as partner in the expansion of terminal of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the port of Tanjung Emas of Semarang, he said.
PT Gresik Jasatama will serve as partner to manage log and bulk cargo terminals at the Gresik port, he said.
Danadiputra said Pelindo III also cooperates with the Surabaya-Madura Area Development Agency (BPWS) to carry out feasibility study on plan to expand the port of Tanjung Bulupandan on the Madura island.
He said cooperation with BPWS is to speed up development of Madura through expansion of the Tanjung Bulupandan port.
"The port would be integrated with the Madura Special Zone (KKM), Special Industrial Zone and other business centers that would contribute to economic development of the island," he added. (*)
