Surabaya, E Java, (Antara) - Good communication among stakeholders and curbing sectoral ego are needed to develop a good transportation system, Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini said.
\"We must be able to curb our ego. We must give and receive something wholeheartedly because the public is awaiting. If we want the economy to grow it must be supported by good transportation,\" she said in her address to the 29th ASEAN Transport Facilitation Working Group (TFWG) and 5th Expert Group Meeting on Cross Border Transport of Passengers\" (CBTP) here on Wednesday.
Transportation connectivity needs common understanding among stakeholders. They cannot put emphasis on one party only but must think for all, she said.
\"That\'s why it is important for parties involved in arranging transportation to refrain from their egos,\" she said.
The meeting which specifically discussed roadmap for the development of transportation system in ASEAN was attended by delegates from other ASEAN member states including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Phlippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Although the meeting is not directly related to Surabaya, the city which plans to develop mass rapid transport system this year can take much lesson from it, she said.
\"With this agenda, we can learn from ASEAN member states in an effort to resolve international transportation system,\" she said. (*)
