Jakarta (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed appreciation for the Indonesian team, which emerged as the winner of the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) held in Palembang, South Sumatra, from September 22 to October 1. "Indonesia is proud of this achievement," the president said through his official Twitter account @SBYudhoyono on Wednesday. The President added that he had initially expected Indonesia to be only figure among the top five countries in the medals tally. ISG is a multi-sports event, which is held every four years, and sees 57 members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participating in the event. Thirteen sports, namely athletics, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, wushu, taekwondo, karate, gymnastics, swimming, badminton, soccer, tennis, and weightlifting are part of the competition during the ISG event. About 2,000 to 2,500 athletes from 25 countries took part in the latest ISG. (*) Reporting by Panca Hari Prabowo Translating and Editing by Amie Fenia Arimbi
