Tangerang, Banten (Antara) - Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta airport's customs service confiscated Rp227 billion worth of narcotic drugs from early this year until July 19, head of the office's service and supervision, Okto Irianto, said here on Sunday. The suspects linked to the drugs smuggling that have been arrested include 26 Indonesian citizens, two South African, 10 Chinese, four Philippine, one Nigerian, five China Taipei, one US and two Malaysian citizens, he said. He said the narcotic drugs confiscated include methamphetamine totaling 55,490 grams, ketamine 6,900 grams, heroin 289.5 grams, marijuana beans 26.3 grams, ecstasy 414,441.5 pills, amphetamine 144 pills. "Totally they weigh 62,705.8 grams and 414,585.5 pills," he said. The number of cases uncovered meanwhile totals 48 consisting of 33 linked to cases of methamphetimine smuggling, nine ketamine, two heroin, one marijuana bean, ecstasy and amphetamine smuggling. "The biggest number of smuggling cases involves methamphetamine followed by ketamine," he said. Okto said the office would continue to step up checking on goods from within the country and abroad. He said all of the drugs that have been confiscated for use as evidence have been submitted to investigators including the Soekarno-Hatta airport police resort and the National Narcotic Agency (BNN).
