The Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, said that Generation Z or commonly known as Gen-Z in Surabaya must have tough shells, as they have a pivotal role in the upcoming era of "Golden Indonesia" in 2045
This was stated when he attended the event of "Gen Z Suroboyo Beraksi dan Menginspirasi" (Surabaya's Gen-Z: Showing and Inspiring) in Graha UNESA (State University of Surabaya) on Saturday (8/6). He asked the whole generation to have the courage, taking risks to fulfill their dreams and shape their future
"If you want to be successful, reach your targets with hard work and determination, not just sit idle by", he said
This event attended by three youngsters coming from different backgrounds, which are the "President of Gen-Z", Rian Fahradi, Elsa Japasal, and Jerome Polin
These three are the examples of hard working youngsters and did not afraid to shoot for the stars
"Make them your role models to stand tall and have the courage to reach your dreams!", said Eri
However, he realized that to shape an excellent generation, the government must offer a helping hand and provide the arena for them to express themselves
"In every planning meeting, the youths are asked to come so that they can contribute in our development for the city. We, the government, must give what they want to have"
Meanwhile, the Head of Representation of UNICEF for Java, Arie Rukmantara, said that Gen-Z in Surabaya must be reliable, and it should be accompanied by good parenting from their parents
Arie also reminds that every parent must have the knowledge on how to protect their children in every household
"Parenting is not an inborn talent, but something that should be learned instead", Arie said
Nevertheless, Arie left three messages for Gen-Z in Surabaya in order to welcome the Golden Indonesia in 2045
First, they must not be stammer, nervous, and left behind. Second, the existence of Gen-Z as the future generation of the nation could bring the prosperity for Indonesia in 2045. And the third one is keep Indonesia as the fourth biggest economy in the world
"Indonesia is on its way to become a developed country. And Gen-Z must be ready to be leaders, not only in Indonesia but also the world", he said. (ADV)
