Surabaya, E Java, (Antara) - The Indonesian Professional Chef Association (PCPI) is planning to take the local menu to the international level at the Indonesia Chef Expo to be held in Surabaya, East Java, from May 4 to 6, 2018.

This exhibition, which is held for the first time in Indonesia, aims to raise the potential and profession of Indonesian professional chefs in the global market, Chairman of DPP PCPI, Bambang Nurianto, stated in a press conference here on Monday.

"We try to introduce the ins and outs of the profession of chefs, inspire the younger generation, as well as increase the capacity of each chef," he noted.

The ultimate goal of organizing the event is to create an integrated ecosystem of the culinary industry and the profession of chef.

"PCPI, as the organizer and expo conceptor, is formed through the shared vision of chefs, in order to improve Indonesian culinary in the global market, elevate the life and capacity of the chefs, build a global network, and inspire future generations to become professional chefs," he stated.

Meanwhile, several series of activities, namely Cooking Demos by Celebrity Chef Vindex Tengker, Giorgio Diana, and Chef Kelana, will also be conducted through the implementation of the exhibition.

Besides, visitors will also enjoy the exciting retail programs and a variety of Indonesian foods at the Indonesia Chef Expo.

PCPI will host the first National Conference during ICE 2018 to strengthen the PCPI network among the provinces in Indonesia.

"Indonesia Chef Expo will strengthen the variety of tourism activities, especially in Surabaya, and lift the local economy indirectly," he added.

Indonesia Chef Expo will encourage various parties to join the expo, in order to boost the creative economy of Indonesian culinary.(*)
