Semarang, Central Java (Antara) - Some 16 passengers of a bus were killed after it turned turtle at the Jangli section of the Jatingaleh-Tembalang toll road in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday.
The bus was carrying a total of 58 people.
Semarang traffic police chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Pungky Buana Santoso said he received the report on the number of dead from Bhayangkara and Dr. Kariadi hospitals.
"Ten bodies are kept in Bhayangkara hospital and six others at Kariadi hospital," he added.
He noted that police were still trying to ascertain the identities of the victims.
The bus carrying 58 members of a prayer entourage was on the way to Bojonegoro after taking the group from a prayer event in Pekalongan when it met with the accident.
It is believed that the bus was speeding while taking a turn at the Jangli section when it suddenly rolled over and turned upside down.
The survivors of the accident were taken to various hospitals for treatment. (*)
