Jakarta (Antara) -- The General Elections Commission (KPU) appreciates the approval granted to government regulation in lieu of law (perppu) number 1 of 2014, which reinstates direct regional elections, by the House of Representatives (DPR). "The approval helps us continue with our preparations," Commissioner of the KPU Hadar Nafis Gumay said here on Tuesday. According to Deputy Speaker of the DPR Agus Hermanto, the perppu needs to be revised and perfected immediately to ensure its proper implementation. The KPU is planning to draw up proposals to improve the regulation. "We will hold a plenary meeting tomorrow to draft points that could be improved. So during a hearing with House Commission II on Thursday, we can deliver the proposal," Gumay added. To revise the regulation, the KPU will involve legal experts Saldi Isra from Andalas University and Asep Yusuf Warlan from Parahyangan University, as well as an expert staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh.
