Jakarta (Antara) -- As many as 28 young Indonesians from all regions of the archipelago are set to leave Jakarta for Japan on October 28 to promote Indonesia and strengthen relations between the two countries. These efforts are being made as part of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP). "Youths from respective countries will participate in various activities to foster friendship and mutual understanding among participants in an effort to broaden their global view," spokesperson of the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, Kenichi Takeyama, said here Thursday. Speaking at an event organized by the Japanese Embassy to welcome the participating youths, Takeyama stated that the SSEAYP would also enable them to interact with their friends and families from Japan and ASEAN member states. Moreover, the SSEAYP National Leader from Indonesia, Meutia Rahima, pointed out that the program would allow participating countries to hold cultural exchanges. "They can learn about the culture of different countries, including Indonesia," she affirmed. (*)
