Youths Should Support Indonesia-China Realations: Envoy

Beijing - The Indonesian students currently studying in China are expected to support the RI-China relations especially in term of people to people contact, the country's ambassador to China and Mongolia, Imron Cotan has said.
"The Indonesian representatives in any country including in China will have difficulty to maximize their relations without the students and youths role to help strengthen the friendly ties," the ambassador said when opening the first congress of the Indonesian students and youths in China here on Saturday.
He believed the Indonesian youths and students living in China have intensive relations with the local people.
"Therefore, the ties the Indonesian youths have engaged with those of China can be intensified," Cotan cited.
According to him, the Indonesian representatives especially in China cannot reach all the latter's people in effort to strengthen both countries' people to people contact.
The number of Indonesian students in China currently studying in some senior high schools and universities reach 9,535.
They live in several cities among other things in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanning and Chongqing, and about 62 percent of them learn the Mandarin language subject.
Cotan also expressed the hope that the Indonesian youths and students in China can behave well during their daily life.
The Indonesian students' first congress which will last until Sunday (Oct.28/2012) among other things formulates their organization's statutes, elects chairman and the executive board members. (*)
