Pangkep, South Sulawesi (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has predicted that the Indonesian cement industry will be brighter in the future because of a whole lot of thorough preparations that have been made. "Following thorough preparations that have been made, the opportunity for our cement industry in the future will get brighter," President Yudhoyono stated, while inaugurating the cement factory PT Tonasa Unit V in Pangkep district, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday. The head of state noted that his prediction of the country's cement industry having a bright future was in line with rapid development of transportation facility and connectivity. Following the operation of PT Tonasa Unit V, the ever-increasing demand of cement will be met. Meanwhile, State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan stated that cement commodity produced by Indonesia was ready to face the implementation of a free market such as in ASEAN Economic Community 2015. Dahlan noted that it was inseparable from the strategy of President Yudhoyono's government to unite all major cement companies in the country, namely Semen Padang, Semen Gresik, and Semen Tonasa to become the publicly listed PT Semen Indonesia. The minister added that by incorporating Semen Padang, Semen Gresik, and Semen Tonasa into PT Semen Indonesia, the company, in 2013, became the largest cement producer in Southeast Asia. (*)
