PKS' Hidayat lauds and Gives Boost to KPK

Denpasar, Bali - Leading lawmaker Hidayat Nur Wahid here Thursday said he gave support for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in unveiling the Bank Century scandal.
The chairman of the Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS) faction expressed appreciation for the courage shown by the anti graft agency in implicating Vice President Boediono in Bank Indonesia providing controversial short term loan to ailing lender Bank Century .
The controversy began after the government provided a bail-out fund of Rp6.7 trillion for Bank Century which was drained out of cash after being robber by its owner who fled the country with fund belong to the bank depositors in 2008 KPK chairman Abraham Samad said yesterday Boediono's role is apparent in Central Bank approving the bailout fund Boediono was governor of the central bank when two deputy governors Budi Mulya and Siti Fadjrijah allegedly violated the central bank regulation by providing the loan .
The government said the bail out was provided as the collapse of any bank amid global financial crisis, was potential to trigger systemic effect.
The House of Representatives, however, said the reason for the bail out was unfounded and illegal.
KPK, however, did not include Boediono in its list of suspects naming only Budi Mulya and Siti Fadjrijah , who were charged with abuse of power.
Abraham Samad said Boediono's role is apparent but KPK has no power to indict the vice president because of his immunity from being investigated by law enforcement. His statement, however, was widely debated .
Chairman of the Constitutional Court Mahfud MD said non one is immune to law on corruption .
Meanwhile Bodiono said he would be ready to lend support in investigation into the Bank Century case. (*)
