Situbondo (ANTARA) - Navy chief of staff Admiral Soeparno said the Indonesian scouts movement members along with the societies could participate in guarding the country's border areas. Admiral Soeparno made the statement after attending the diving event at the scouts movement anniversary at the Situbondo Pasir putih beach on Sunday. The country's scouts can help the Navy or Army in the regions especially in the border areas, Soeparno said, asking the Navy to assist the scout movement. In effort to enliven the scouts movement anniversary, a total of 614 divers carried the country's red-and-white flag measuring 50x20 meters under the sea water. "Navy should support all the scouts activities mainly dealing with the marine affairs," the Navy chief said, asking the scouts movement members to involve in preserving the marine environment activities for the present and future generation. In addition, the giant flag carrying activity held under the sea water took three days and nights.
