Merak, Banten (ANTARA) - PT Indonesia Ferry has put 25 roll-on-roll off boats into service to overcome a long line of trucks waiting to be ferried from Java to Sumatra at Merak port in Banten province. "PT ASDP in Merak today operates 24 roros with the hope it could minimize queueing," operations manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Merak Branch, Zailis Anas, said here on Saturday. The line of trucks is entering the toll road as a lot of companies are delivering goods at the same time ahead of the Islamic fasting month. A lot of private cars are also going to Sumatra ahead of the fasting month that would fall early in August, he said. He said two days ago also 22 roro boats were operating increasing the number of queueing trucks. A driver, Romi, said the queueing must be overcome immediately by the transportation ministry. "It has been very serious. The government must overcome this problem immediately," he said.
