Sumenep, E Java (Antara Jatim) - A motor vessel carrying homebound Idul Fitri travelers was stranded in Raas waters on Saturday evening while on its way from Situbondo district to Sumenep district in East Java province.

The vessel Express Bahari C-9, carrying some 360 people, left Jangkar port in Situbondo at 03.00 p.m. local time. It was stranded in the waters off Kalosot Island, about a mile from Raas port at around 05.00 p.m.

"Based on information from Raas police precinct, it is believed that the vessel was stranded after ramming into corals in the waters of Kalosot Island," spokesman for the Sumenep police Adjunct Commissioner Suwardi noted. (*/DS012/EDITED BY INE)
