Surabaya (Antara Jatim) - The Surabaya city government expects micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to boost the attainment of the city's investment target of Rp31 trillion for this year.
The realized investment in Surabaya has so far this year reached Rp19.5 trillion, with MSMEs contributing nearly 40 percent of it, Chief of the Surabaya City Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Eko Agus Supriyadi said here on Sunday.
"MSMEs have played a relatively big role," he said.
He said the growth of MSMEs in Surabaya showed an upward trend all the time. Therefore, the BKPM encouraged them to grow by providing them with facilities, he said.
Many MSMEs in the city had key commodities, yet they still found it difficult to market them, he said.
By providing MSMEs with digital marketing facilities including computers and internet networks, the BKPM expected they could expand their market, he said.
"In total, we have so far helped eight MSMEs through digital marketing facilities," he said.
He went on to say the BKPM was making every effort to increase investment in the city particularly from the trade and service sectors.
"We have done a lot of things. One of them is easing licensing. Given the tax amnesty policy, we hope it will increase investment in Surabaya city," he added. (*)
