Jokowi Must Form Ministry of Food Soveregnity: Observer

Samarinda, E Kalimantan (Antara) - President-elect Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, must form a ministry of food and energy sovereignty, stated Herdiansyah Hamzah, a legal and political observer at the Mulawarman University in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. "The government of President-elect Jokowi must strive to restore the glory of food and energy sovereignty in Indonesia by forming a ministry to handle the matter," Herdiansyah remarked here on Wednesday. He noted that most of the food and energy sector in the country was still controlled by foreign parties because the government did not pay specific attention to it. According to Herdiansyah, in principle, the purpose of national development was for the welfare of all people, and therefore, the government should have restored the glory of food and energy sovereignty, which has been dominated by foreign parties. "In an effort to restore it, the next government of President- and Vice President-elect Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla (Jokowi-Kalla) must form a coordinating ministry for food and energy sovereignty," he emphasized. Herdiansyah stated that he did not question the composition of the Jokowi-Kalla cabinet since he felt it was important that it should cater to the need. "The important thing is that the Jokowi-Kalla cabinet should be in accordance with the need, irrespective of whether it is big or small," Hardiansyah noted. (*)
