Jakarta (Antara) - The Minister of Communication and Informatics Tifatul Sembiring was surprised with comedy programs aired in the fasting month of Ramadan as those programs contain more elements of comedy than religious content.
"Comedy content is welcome, but please do not only just comedy," he said after led a rally of officials from Communication and Informatics Ministry and works partners toward Idul Fitri 1434 H here on Monday.
The minister said that related officials such as Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) and Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) earlier have issued the reprimand letters to tv station which aired programs that were considered inappropriate during Ramadhan.
For instance, he said, KPI has delivered a letter of reprimand to a private Trans TV because of the tv program titled "Karnaval Ramadhan" which violated broadcasting rules.
According to KPI, he said "Karnaval Ramadhan" has showed scenes which could harm people with certain physical conditions, insult sexual orientation and gender identity, violate norms of decency as well as child protection.
During Ramadhan, various national channels are in race to broadcast many shows that aired before dawn to fast-breaking dinner.
For instance, the private Kompas TV presents a program called "Udah Sahur Belum" (Have you had sahoor ?) which is starred by prominent artists such as Olla Ramlan, Saiful Jamil, Jono Gugun Blues Shelter, Ipank, Vega Ngatini, Nycta Gina, and Kemal Akbar Pahlevi. (*)
