Nusa Dua (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked all parties to make good preparations for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Bali next October.
"There should not be shortage in any part of the APEC summit (in Bali). Last year, we had APEC summit in Vladivostok, Russia, and in Honolulu, the United States. This year we will host it in Bali and next year it will be held in China. Let us organize it well," President Yudhoyono said here on Tuesday.
He said that the APEC summit in Bali should benefit Indonesia, create good impression and provide deep memories.
"Once in 21 years, thousands will come (here). They can either say Bali is just business as usual or Bali is really different. Indonesia is different," the President said.
Besides asking for success as host, the President also asked for success in the substance of the APEC summit in Bali.
"Make the Bali summit a success in its hosting and in its substance. The APEC summit can push for good cooperation amid the global crisis and APEC should make something concrete. Besides serving as a means of high resilience it should also serve as an engine for growth. Let us make it a success so that the interest of Indonesia and of the world would be achieved," the President stressed. (*)
