Probolinggo, East Java (Antara) - Indonesian military (TNI) commander Admiral Agus Suhartono expressed deep condolences over the deaths of two villagers a Combat Training Center ground in Karangteko, Situbondo, East Java on Saturday. "I'm very concerned over the incident and hope the victims' families would remain strong," he said. He said TNI would help the bereaved families in the funeral of their members. Two villagers were killed and three others were wounded after a bomb from an F-16 Aircraft used in a recent joint exercise they found exploded. The victims entered the off-limit area to collect bullet casings when they found the bomb and clearly unaware that it was still active and out of ignorance they tried to open it by hammering it causing it to explode. Agus said TNI always warned local residents to not enter the area before a military exercise is done there. Residents are also prohibited to get closer to the exercise zone until a TNI team finished clearing the area from any dangerous stuff, he added. (*)
