Bandarlampung - The high prosecution office of Lampung has named three corruption suspects in the procurement of land for BPPHP, the office monitoring the utilization of production forest in Lampung. "There are three suspects, JS, S and JMD. They are civil servants and a private company worker," Heru Wijadmiko, the spokesman of Lampung high prosecution office, said here on Saturday. Heru said investigations of 17 witnesses including the head of the Bandar Lampung Income Office, led to the three being named suspects. The procurement of the land with price set at Rp3 billion was financed with 2011 state budget, Heru said. The price, however, had been inflated causing a loss of Rp1 billion in state fund, according to investigations by the Lampung prosecution office. "We had found indications of corruption in the purchase of the 2,000 square meters of land. There was marked up based on the normal price of land in that area," he said. The price was reported to reach Rp950,000 per meters as against the prevailing price of Rp250 per sq.m., he said. (*)
