Bandung, W Java, (Antara) - The Indonesian government has named Palestine as one of the priority countries to receive capacity building assistance programs for developing nations as part of its commitment to promoting South-South Cooperation.

"I am delighted to convince you that various best practices and technical assistance from Indonesia to Palestine have been and will always be part of the Indonesian commitment. I affirm that Palestine is one of Indonesia's priorities," Director of Technical Cooperation at the Finance Ministry Mohammad Syarif Alatas stated here on Tuesday.

He made the remarks while addressing the International Training on Infrastructure for Palestinians organized by the Indonesian government here on July 2-14, 2017. As many as 14 Palestinian civil servants are taking part in the training.

Palestine is one of the priority countries to receive assistance from the Indonesian government under the technical cooperation. The technical cooperation assistance in the infrastructure sector is part of the Indonesian government's commitment to extending capacity building assistance to the Palestinian civil apparatuses.

The capacity building program is the Indonesian government's commitment within the framework of the South-South Cooperation aimed at promoting development cooperation among developing nations.

"In the framework of South-South Cooperation, developing nations across the world have exchanged resources, technology, and knowledge to promote development," he pointed out.

The capacity building assistance not only reflects the Indonesian nation's solidarity with Palestinians but also serves as a mandate of the 1945 Indonesian Constitution, he emphasized.

Since 2008, Indonesia has provided training in various fields to around 1,800 Palestinians. The training is realized under more than 150 capacity building programs for the development of Palestine.

The fields include tourism, agriculture, construction, fire fighting, democracy, and good governance.(*)
