Jakarta (Antara) - Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto can win the upcoming July 9 presidential election if his electability continued to increase, a survey institute said.
"The Prabowo-Hatta presidential ticket can win if the pair's upward electability trend continues to take place and the downward electability trend of the Jokowi-JK duo also continues," M Qodari, the executive director of Indo Barometer survey institute, said here on Sunday.
He said that based on the results of the survey his institute had conducted on June 16 to June 22, 2014, which involved 1,200 respondents from 33 provinces, the Jokowi-JK electability was still higher at 46 percent as compared to Prabowo-Hatta's 42.6 percent.
A total of 11.3 percent of voters still kept their choices a secret.
However, in general the latest survey result of Jokowi-JK's electability showed a decline as compared to the results of surveys conducted previously. In the meantime, Prabowo's electability continued to increase.
Qodari said that if the upward trend of Prabowo's electability continued, he could win a landslide victory of 53 percent above Jokowi's 47 percent in the July 9 presidential election.
On the other hand, the Jokowi-JK pair could instead win if the pair is able to maintain its electability and the 11.3 voters opted to vote for it.
Indonesia will be organizing a free and democratic presidential election on July 9, 2014, which will be contested by only two pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo (Jokowi)-Jusuf Kalla. (*)
