Jakarta (Antara)- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono congratulated Kevin Rudd, who was reelected as Australian Prime Minister, and believed that cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow.
President Yudhoyono at his residence in Puri Cikeas, Bogor on Friday afternoon, received a phone call from Prime Minister Rudd, and said he welcomed the upcoming annual meeting between Indonesian and Australian government leaders in Bogor on July 5, 2013.
"Rudd called President Yudhoyono and talked about a number of matters. As leader of government and friend, Yudhoyono congratulated Prime Minister Rudd after being reelected," President's Special Staff Teuku Faizasyah said here on Friday.
According to Faizasyah, in the telephone conversation that lasted about 15 minutes, Rudd also expressed his confidence regarding the increased cooperation between the two countries and expected that the Bogor meeting on July 5 will enhance cooperation between the two countries.
Recently, Kevin Rudd was re-elected as the Australian Prime Minister after winning the party's internal elections by defeating Julia Gillard to lead the party which automatically becomes Prime Minister of Australia. (*)
