Jakarta - Indonesia has the potential to become one of the major economies of the world, according to Culture and Education Minister Muhammad Nuh.
"The potential to be a top global economic power can be seen from the signs of today's development era," he said here on Wednesday at the "All Indonesia Culture Editorial Meeting 2012", organized by the Ministry of Culture and Education in cooperation with Indonesian Journalist Association (PWI).
Present at the meeting were the representatives of cultural editors from various media across the country, except North Maluku.
"Based on our history, geographic location, and population, we are a big state," Nuh noted.
"Let¿s just consider our extensive national historical heritage that was discovered in Muara Jambi in Jambi Province," he stated.
"In terms of history, we are an extraordinary nation," the minister said, adding that Indonesia was also one of the largest countries in the world by virtue of its massive population.
He pointed out that only three countries, China, India, and the United States, had a larger population than Indonesia.
"A big population means that we have enough human resources potential to make Indonesia a major global economy," Nuh explained.
"Besides, Indonesia has very strategic geographic location, which many countries do not have," he added. (*)
