Jayapura, Papua, (Antara) - As many as eight aircraft are ready to be deployed to evacuate the victims of Trigana Air's aircraft, which crashed in Oksob village, Pegunungan Bintang district, on Sunday, August 16.
The eight aircraft include Philatus of Susi Air, Twin Otter and ATR of Trigana Air, Caravan belonging to the AMA, Heli Bell owned by Airfast, and an MI helicopter owned by the Army, Jayapura air base Commander Col. I Made Susila Adyana stated here on Tuesday.
Adyana remarked that the eight aircraft are on standby at Sentani and Oksibil airports.
Trigana's ATR will be deployed to transport logistics from Sentani this morning, while Airfast's helicopter was already in Oksibil, he pointed out.
The commander also expects the weather conditions to remain favorable to facilitate the evacuation process.
Meanwhile, air and land rescue teams have already reached the crash site, Pegunungan Bintang district Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yunus Wally revealed.
Moreover, Airfast's helicopter has already transported the SAR team to Oksob village to prepare the helipad to facilitate the evacuation process, he added.
All of the 54 victims were found dead.(*)
