Jakarta (Antara) -- The sole candidate for the post of the national police chief will sit for a fit and proper test at the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday.
The test is being conducted even though Commissioner General Budi Gunawan (BG), the candidate, was named as a suspect in a corruption case.
"The fit and proper test will be held (at the DPR building) at 9 a. m. local time," Chief of House Commission III Aziz Syamsuddin said at Gunawan's residence here on Tuesday.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named BG as a suspect in a corruption case for allegedly receiving bribes through a suspicious transaction.
"Commissioner General BG has been named as a suspect for allegedly receiving commitments when he headed the police headquarters' Career Planning Bureau in the 2003-2006 period and other posts in the force," he affirmed here on Tuesday. (*)
