Jambi (Antara) - Three workers of an illegal gold mining camp in Pulau Raman village, Muarasiau Subdistrict, Jambi Province, died inside a tunnel they were digging on Saturday, a police officer said here Sunday. The victims identified as Bustami (30), Fajar (20), and Zulkifli (25) might die of the smoke from the drilling machine used for digging the tunnel, Jambi Police Chief Brigadier General Bambang Sudarisman said. The smoke of the drilling machine might have filled the leaked tunnel, making the workers uneasy to breathe. Their bodies had been evacuated and buried in a local cemetery by their respective families, he said. Two women working for an illegal gold mining camp in Renap Pembarap Subdistrict, Merangin District, Jambi Province, had also died recently in a work-side accident. (*) Reported by Nanang Mairiadi
