Jakarta (Antara) - Vice President Boediono here on Sunday inaugurated four museums in the country as part of efforts to preserve national civilization and disseminate information on national history among younger generations. "Museums have a significant meaning to develop the nation, appreciate and preserve the history of the Indonesian nation," he said when symbolically inaugurated the museums at the Vice Presidential Palace. Also present at the event were Education and Culture Minister Mohammad Nuh, Deputy Education and Culture Minister for Culture Wiendhu Nuyanti, and Deputy Education and Culture Minister for Education Musliar Kasim. The four museums are World War Two and Trikora Museum in Morotai Island, North Maluku, Four Clusters of Sangiran Museum Building in Sragen district, Central Java, renovation of Siwa Temple on the Prambanan Temple premises in Yogyakarta, and Ku Yakin Sampai Sana Statue at the National Museum in Jakarta. Boediono said the four museums were reconstruction of the Indonesian nation's history as visitors of the museums would see various kinds of information on the nation's struggle and social condition. "For instance, the World War Two Museum may provide visitors with information on why Morotai Island is important for Indonesian fighters to reach Papua," he said. (*)
