Semarang, C Java (Antara) - The General Elections Commission (KPU), Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and Election Organizers Ethics Council (DKPP) have executed their constitutional duties democratically, honestly, and fairly, stated Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) secretary general Tjahjo Kumolo.
"We congratulate the KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP for successfully being able to carry out their duties democratically and honestly," Tjahjo Kumolo noted here on Friday.
Tjahjo pointed out that the KPU, government, and political parties have been able to properly mobilize voters and prepare the evidences as well as witnesses for the Constitutional Court's (MK's) hearing.
The MK has rejected the entire plea on the dispute of the presidential election results as filed by the presidential and vice presidential pair Prabowo-Hatta.
"(Court) rejects the plaintiff's request entirely," MK Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva noted while reading out the verdict here on Thursday evening.
The Prabowo-Hatta duo filed a dispute on the presidential election results with the MK alleging structured, systematic, and massive election fraud during the implementation of the 2014 presidential election.
Related to the verdict, Tjahjo remarked that the PDIP respected the opinion of all parties in assessing the MK's verdict.
"As law-abiding citizens of Indonesia who obey the constitution, we respect the MK's verdict, which is based on the facts after hearing the witnesses and evidence," he affirmed.
Tjahjo, the chairman of the Jokowi-JK winning team, also appreciated all parties for the successful implementation of the presidential election.
He hoped that the prayers and support of all parties will help the Jokowi-JK's government to lead the cabinet effectively and efficiently in order to improve the welfare of people and help to further develop the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Previously, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has denied commenting on the issue saying that he did not want to interfere in the affairs of President-elect Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi. (*)
