Jember, E Java (Antara) - More than 90 Muslims in East Java's Jember district are likely to cancel their plans to perform the hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia due to a variety of reasons. "Many would-be hajj pilgrims failed to depart (for Saudi Arabia) this year because they have not settled their hajj pilgrimage costs, are ill, have died, or dropped plans to perform the hajj pilgrimage," chief of the hajj and umra affairs at the office of the Religious Affairs Ministry in Jember district, Misbahul Munir, said on Saturday. He noted that 12 of the 90 would-be hajj pilgrims have died. "As many as 62 people cannot perform hajj pilgrims because they cannot pay their hajj pilgrimage costs before the deadline. Consequently, their departure will be delayed until next year," he said. (Reporting by Zumrotun Solichah) (*).
