Muhammadiyah Community Warned Against Money Politics

Solo, Central Java, May 27 (Antara) - Muhammadiyah Organization General Chairman Din Syamsuddin has warned the organization's members against engaging in money politics during the July 9, 2014, presidential election.
"The community of Muhammadiyah should be smart and responsible to avoid money politics during the presidential election," Din stated during the grand Muhammadiyah gathering at Manahan stadium here on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Din explained that the members of Muhammadiyah organization are free to elect any presidential and vice presidential candidate of their choice.
"The Muhammadiyah community should be smart in voting for their presidential and vice presidential candidates on the basis of their knowledge as well as spiritual and rational consideration and not be tempted by money politics," Din noted.
According to him, Muhammadiyah does not officially nominate a particular presidential and vice presidential candidate, and therefore, its members are free to elect any pair that they wanted in the election. (*)
