Jakarta (Antara) - Vice presidential candidate Hatta Rajasa visited Islamic leader Habib Abdurrahman bin Muhammad Al Habsyi at his residence on Jalan Kembang V number 40, Kwitang in Central Jakarta here on Wednesday.
Hatta arrived at the location at around 4.50 p. m. by car and was welcomed by the leader of the Islamic Center of Indonesia, who was waiting for him in front of his house.
The two shook hands and hugged each other before entering the house for a closed-door meeting.
After the meeting, Hatta Rajasa and Habib Abdurrahman are scheduled to visit the tomb of Habib Ali bin Abdurrahman bin Abdullah Al Habsyi at the cemetery located near the Ar-Riyadh mosque located in the vicinity.
Previously on Tuesday, presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto who pairs up with Hatta for the election on July 9 visited Rhoma Irama, a "dangdut" singer and musician, at the latter's residence on Jalan Pondok Jaya VI, Mampang Prapatan in South Jakarta.
He said Rhoma Irama and his followers had expressed readiness to support the Prabowo-Hatta pair to win the election.
"He has asked to be involved in the 'holy fight' for the nation," Prabowo added.
Prabowo noted that he was glad and moved at being able to meet with Rhoma Irama.
"We had not met for a long time because of our engagements. We have been friends since we were young. Now, our hairs have become whiter," he said.
Prabowo from the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) and Hatta from the National Mandate Party (PAN) will compete with Jokowi from the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP), who pairs up with former vice president Jusuf Kalla in the upcoming election. (*)
