Surabaya to Host the Asian Fashion Week 2014

Surabaya, East Java (Antara) - The East Java city of Surabaya was selected to host the "Asian Fashion Week 2014", which will be held at the Ciputra World in August 15-16, 2014, an official said. President and CEO Arwin Sharma of the "Group Fashion Week" said here on Monday Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia was previously selected to host the event, but because of complaints from fashion designers it was decided to change the venue to Surabaya. "Due to complaints from Asian and international fashion designers about high costs, length of travel time, and difficult flight access to Ulaanbaatar, Surabaya was appointed instead of Ulaanbaatar to host the event," Arwin said. Arwin noted that it was deplorable to change the host city from Ulaanbaatar to Surabaya, but then the city in East Java was the right place for the Asian Fashion Week 2014. "Surabaya is the right place for the event because it is the second-largest city in Indonesia with a high income per capita, and the mayor had received the best international award," he said. (*)
