S Korea, Indonesia Strengthen Ties Through Culinary Activity

Jakarta (Antara) - South Korean Counselor for Forestry, Agriculture, Fisheries and Climate Change in Indonesia Lee Mira said her side was trying to strengthen diplomatic relations with Indonesia through culinary festival in a mall here on Sunday. "The culinary activity was conducted to commemorate the 40 years of South Korea and Indonesia diplomatic relations as well as to strengthen the bilateral relations," Lee Mira said. The culinary festival featured a variety of South Korean foods, she said, adding that the festival's organizing committee also carried out cooking competition followed by ten participants. "All participants of the cooking competition are from Indonesia. They cooked two South Korean foods namely Gimbap and the South Korean Martabak," she said. "KPop and KDrama are already popular to the Indonesian community. Now we are promoting KFood," she noted, explaining that South Korean and Indonesian cuisines have similarities. Lee Mira also expressed hope that such culinary festival can bring closer relations between the two countries and their people. (*)
