Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Aug 3 (Antara) - Indonesian shipping company PT Pelni and the Indonesian Navy will convert their ships into floating hotels to house members of the public attending Sail Komodo on September 14, 2013. Floating hotels will be made available due to a lack of hotel rooms for guests of the international maritime event Sail Komodo which will be attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Frans Salem, the chairman of the local organizing committee, said here on Friday. The organizing committee has also arranged with local residents to prepare spare rooms to accommodate guests, if needed. "We have allocated funds for them to build additional rooms," he said. A number of yachts set sail from Darwin, Australia on July 28, 2013 as they headed towards Kupang for Sail Komodo. The yachts are scheduled to meet in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai District, so participants might observe Komodo dragons living in Komodo National Park. From Labuan Bajo, the boats coming from several countries will proceed to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara and other Indonesian provinces, including Bali. A colossal traditional dance depicting Komodo dragons will be performed by some 500 to 1,000 dancers during the Sail Komodo event, which is expected to be attended by Vice President Boediono, Yohana Lingu Langu of the East Nusa Tenggara tourism office recently announced. Besides the colossal Komodo dragon dance, other traditional dances to be performed will include "Bonet and Bidu" from South Timor Tengah (TTS) and North Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Districts, "Likurai and Tebe" from Belu District, "Lego-Lego" from Alor, "Dolo-Dolo" from East Flores, "Gawi" from Ende, "Pado'a" from Sabu Rai Jua, and "Kataga" from West Sumba. Sail Komodo 2013 will also include a seminar, a maritime sports game, a cultural festival, and a handicraft exhibition. (*)
