Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is among the winners of the Raymond Magsaysay Award for 2013 in appreciation for its success in anti corruption campaigns and in upholding the law against corrupt officials in the country. "This organization proves to be independent and succeeds in promoting anti corruption campaigns in Indonesia," the Raymond Magsaysay Award wrote in its website on Thursday. The anti graft body is an award winner from Indonesia in the category of government agencies . Other award winners are Ernesto Domingo, a physician, who has carried out a social mission in medical field in the Philippines, Habiba Sarabi, the first woman governor in the province of Barnyan in Afghanistan, Shakti Samuha, an community organization waging war against human trade in Nepal and Lahpai Seng Raw, a woman who found a community organization for public health, agricultural develop0ment and campaigns for peace in the province of Kachin, Myanmar. KPK deputy chairman Bambang Widjojanto said the award is for all people, non government organizations and mass media helping KPK in fighting corruption in the country. KPK will continue to be independent in its battels against corruption, Bambang said here on Thursday. He said the award would serve as a reminder for KPK to remain on the right track to meet the public satisfaction and to contribute to a better Indonesia. The award winners will receive a certificate , medal and cash in a ceremony to be held 31 December 2013 in the Philippine Cultural Center . Previous Raymond Magsayasay Award winners from Indonesia included activist in anti corruption campaign Teten Masduki (2005), former president Abdurahman Wahid (1993), man of letters HB Jassin (1987), journalist Mochtar Lubis (1958), and former Jakarta governor Ali Sadikin (1971).(*)
