Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia is optimistic in facing various challenges arising from the current global crisis, as the country possesses strong resources.
“Amid a global crisis, many countries are anxious. We must remain vigilant, but we are optimistic. We will face challenges in the coming months, but we have resources, we have very strong and abundant resources,” Prabowo said in Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday.
During the inauguration of the electric commercial vehicle assembly factory, he stressed the importance of conserving energy and transitioning to clean or renewable energy despite the country's abundant resources.
The shift toward the use of e-vehicles is one of the solutions being promoted to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, which produce carbon dioxide.
He also expressed appreciation and pride that Indonesia has the capability to produce buses and trucks powered by electricity.
“Indeed, our plan is, I hope by 2028, we will mass-produce electric sedans. So now we already have electric buses and trucks, and the capability is quite significant and making us proud,” Prabowo said.
He mentioned that the domestic component level (TKDN) in the production of these buses and trucks has reached 40 percent.
“In the near future, perhaps in two years, it will reach 60 percent. Two years after that, it will reach 80 percent,” he added.
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the electric commercial vehicle assembly plant owned by PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas in Magelang.
The head of state described the launch as an important milestone in national industrial development and said he would continue to monitor the project’s progress, including providing support if obstacles arise.
