Jakarta (ANTARA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin assured Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto of his government’s readiness to support Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and enhance the competitiveness of its industrial sector.
During a bilateral meeting at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Wednesday (December 10), President Putin emphasized Russia’s eagerness to participate in joint cooperation projects of strategic importance with Indonesia.
“If Indonesia decided to involve Russia, we always stand ready to offer our help,” Putin stated in a livestream broadcast by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, monitored from Jakarta.
Putin noted that Russia has numerous projects with promising prospects for cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in the industrial development, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors.
He added that bilateral trade between the two nations has continued to strengthen, with combined export and import values rising by 17 percent in the first nine months of 2025.
The Russian leader voiced confidence that both countries will continue resolving existing trade hurdles to elevate their economic partnership to new heights.
“We are ready to explore new avenues (for cooperation),” Putin affirmed.
Putin also highlighted the upward trend in Indonesia–Russia tourism cooperation, marked by rising numbers of visitors between both countries. He attributed the growing exchanges largely to direct flight availability and visa-free travel arrangements.
Reflecting on these cross-sector positive developments, the president conveyed optimism that Indonesia and Russia have vast potential to further deepen their strategic partnership.
President Prabowo arrived in Moscow at 10:50 a.m. local time on Wednesday as part of his diplomatic tour following his engagements with Pakistani leaders in Islamabad on December 8–9.
At the Kremlin, the Indonesian leader was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Prabowo and Putin last met during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 18-20.
