President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has consistently striven to boost Indonesia's economic growth in his decade-long leadership, according to an official at the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas).

"He (the president) has been echoing national interests of Indonesia for 10 years, with a special focus on economic growth," Lemhannas' Professional Staff in International Relations and Diplomacy, Edy Prasetyono, remarked during the Jakarta Geopolitical Forum 2024 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He underscored that a peaceful situation and regional cooperation are prerequisites for a country to achieve its targeted economic growth rate. Hence, to this end, Indonesia is always advocating for international dialog.

In this regard, Prasetyono noted that Indonesia had been maintaining a sound level of communication with countries involved in regional geopolitical constellations.

On that note, the official observed that Jokowi had successfully driven Indonesia to adopt a balanced approach to preserve regional stability, which is vital for the country to boost and maintain its economic growth rate at a preferred level.

"I think those are the things Mr. Jokowi has been fighting for," he pointed out.

Prasetyono also spoke highly of President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who will soon take office on October 20, while expressing belief that the man currently serving as the defense minister would carry on Jokowi's fight, as he holds a grand vision.

"Even though he is yet to assume the presidency, Prabowo has embarked on a genuinely (politically) balanced safari by visiting the United States, Russia, and France," he stated.

He opined that the steps taken by the incoming head of state reflect Indonesia's readiness to fight for national and regional interests in various international forums.

Prasetyono also underlined that Prabowo's foreign policy stance aligns with Indonesia's traditional independent and active approach yet diverges from Jokowi's cultural-based focus.
