President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked regional governments to help prepare rooms for the medical equipment assistance that will be provided to regional hospitals.
"The most important thing from my visit to hospitals in Lampung province is the provision of the equipment room. The room must be ready and prepared by the regional government," he said in West Lampung on Friday.
Ensuring the availability of space for storing medical equipment donated by the central government to regional hospitals could support the implementation of health services through the operation of the medical devices, he added.
"We will prepare equipment such as CT scans, cath labs, mammograms, and modern X-rays. Later, the equipment will be sent from the Ministry of Health, which will be carried out in stages this year, then continued in 2025," Widodo informed.
He then drew attention to the importance of providing advanced medical facilities such as CT scans at regional hospitals.
"This medical equipment is intended for all districts and cities, while magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be sent to provincial hospitals. I just checked (the MRI) is being prepared here," he added.
As part of a series of working visits, the President reviewed several regional hospitals in South Lampung, West Lampung, and Tanggamus districts. This was part of his work agenda to ensure improved health services in the regions.
In West Lampung district, he visited Alimuddin Umar Regional Hospital, which is the only regional hospital in the region.
The hospital has served many BPJS (national health insurance) patients, with their percentage reaching 80 percent of the total patients. The hospital is in dire need of a CT scan to speed up the diagnosis of more complex diseases.
