Probolinggo, E Java, (Antara) - Eksotika Bromo Festival, organized before the Yadnya Kasada Ceremony in the sea of sand of Bromo Mountain, East Java, showcases local arts and culture, Probolinggo's Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Service Head Sidik Wijanarko stated.

"We are targeting to increase the number of tourist arrivals in Mount Bromo by holding the Eksotika Bromo Festival that presents art and cultural performances of the Tengger tribe and others," Wijanarko noted here on Friday.

The festival is being held on July 7-8, 2017, before the Kasada Ceremony on July 9-10, 2017.

According to Wijanarko, artists from several regions and provinces across Indonesia will participate in the Eksotika Bromo Festival.

"Some of the performances are from the regions of Bali, Gowa, Ponorogo, and Bondowoso. The visitors can enjoy art and cultural performances of not only the people of Tengger but also of other regions," he remarked.

The festival is expected to attract more number of tourists to extend their stay at the Bromo Mountain.

Head of Sukapura Sub-district Yulius Christian pointed out that the festival can also boost the local economy.

The festival, to be held in the Bromo caldera, will present the Topeng Dance of Gunungsari Tengger, Daul Sakera musical performance of the Pamekasan region, Jaranan dance of Wahyu Tunas Budaya, and Jegog Suar Agung musical performance of Jembrana, Bali.

Moreover, tourists can enjoy the Pepe dance show of bainea Ri from Gowa and Reog performance from Ponorogo District.

The tourism committee will also hold a traditional torch parade and Wadya Bala Music Concert and Jaranan Dance in the Tourism Village of Jetak on July 7-8.(*)
