Jakarta, (Antara) - The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Secretariat is committed to eradicating poverty in Indonesia, according to Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Chief Suhariyanto.

"Indonesia has established the SDGs Secretariat to ensure sustainable national development as a continuation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)," Suhariyanto remarked here on Monday.

He said the main task of the SDGs Secretariat is to cooperate with all stakeholders to expedite the achievement of targets set for the SDGs.

To do this, the secretariat will involve the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the BPS.

"All stakeholders including the public and businesses have been involved to realize these goals," Suhariyanto affirmed.

He reiterated that the target of the SDGs Secretariat is to eradicate poverty by 2030.

"Unlike MDGs, the specific objective of the SDGs is that there will be no poverty and no hunger in 2030, and therefore, we have to work hard to realize it," he said.(*)
