Jakarta, (Antara) - President Joko Widodo officially opened a National Conference on Corruption Eradication 2016, urging ministries and institutions to prioritize corruption prevention.

"I have asked every ministry and institution to give priority to reforms in the licensing and public service sectors on the efforts to prevent corruption," Jokowi said at Kartini Hall here on Thursday.

The ministries and institutions are those providing services in agrarian administration, health, education, seaports, airports and weighbridges.

The Head of State also called for reforms in the management of taxation, state revenues, food and natural resources sectors.

"Besides, priority should also be given for the improvement of transparency, distribution of charity funds, social funds, and goods and service procurement," he stressed.

Jokowi asked them to channel the funds through official banking system to make the distribution transparent and tractable.

The conference, which was organized for the first time in 2006, is themed "Reform of Legal Enforcement and Public Service Systems which are Transparent and Accountable."

Among the speakers of the conference were Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Chairman of the Supreme Court Hatta Ali, Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian, Attorney General M Prasetyo and leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).(*)
