Pontianak, W Kalimantan (Antara)- Flash floods submerged at least 300 homes in four sub-districts in Mempawah District, West Kalimantan Province, forcing a number of people to evacuate themselves to higher grounds.
The flood-affected sub-districts were East Mempawah, Mempawah Hilir, Segedong and Toho, Didik Sudarmanto of the Mempawah District Disaster Mitigation Office, said on Sunday.
In East Mempawah, floods struck Tekam, Sejegi, and Telayar villages.
The inundations also affected Pasir Village in Mempawah Hilir, Peniti Dalam I and Peniti Dalam II Villages in Segedong, and Sepang as well as Toho Hilir Vilalges in Toho.
Some 155 homes in Toho were flooded, 40 homes in Mempawah Hilir, 60 homes in East Mempawah, and at least 30 homes in segedong.
The local authorities have distributed relief aid and deployed rubber boats to help evacuate flood victims.(*)
