Jakarta (Antara) - Agricultural production should continue to grow in line with the set target of attaining food self-sufficiency in the next two to three years, stated President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). "By way of good work, I believe we can achieve self-sufficiency in food in the next three years. Therefore, agricultural production must continue to be increased," President Jokowi remarked during a gathering with the recipients of the "Adhikarya Pangan Nusantara" award at the State Palace on Friday. "Adhikarya Pangan Nusantara" is an award bestowed by the president on several leading figures who have contributed significantly to Indonesia's efforts in attaining food security, food sovereignty, and self-sufficiency in food. President Jokowi affirmed that the government will continue to identify problems, including those related to irrigation, supply of seeds, and fertilizers, which hinder improvements in the agricultural sector. He stated that the related ministers will always be ready to identify and solve on-field problems. Furthermore, the president emphasized that in the next several years, the food production target in every province should be achieved. "And in the next two or three years, we should be able to become self-sufficient in food," the president stated.(*)
